SUNDAY TRADING.

FIN PD FOP SELLING SOFT

DRINKS

Wellington, Fed). 14

Mr Riddell, S.AL, gave judgment in the eases in which the proprietors of the Marble Bar and The Grand were charged with keeping their places open on Sunday. It was argued for the defence that as light luncheons were served on defendant's premises they were entitled to be classed as restaurants. Against this, the Magistrate said, was the fact that a large assortment of soft drinks was dispensed. He could not hold that the business came within the meaning of the word, necessity. Defendants were lined 2()s each, with costs. Security for appeal was fixed.
