DISLOYAL UTTERANCE.
INDISCRETION IN KAILWAY CARRIAGE.
Another example of stupid indiscretion was furnished in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court, when George Adam Hesse was called upon to answer the following charge: —That on or about 25th or 26th January, in a railway carriage between Waiouru and Wellington did make use of the following language calculated to interfere with recruiting:—“A man is a fool for going to the front. lam a German, and you have never gained an inch on them yet. You are a lot of fools to fight.” When asked to plead the accused said: "1 plead guilty as far as the language is concerned, but I did not mean it to be.taken seriously.” The Magistrate (Mr W. G. B-icU deli, H.M.) ;*‘‘Well, you should keep your mouth shut it you don’t want to be taken seriously,” Accused proceeded to further explain his conduct, but was abruptly cut short by the Magistrate. “You are fined £3, in default IT days,” was his Worship’s decision.
