RESCUES SHACKLETON’S MEN,

A wireless message from Captain Davis reads as follows: “The Aurora arrived at Cape Evans, all well, on January 10th and relieved the seven surviving members of the Shaekleton expedition, namely, Stevens, Joyce, Cope, Wild, Richards, Sage and Jack, who were found all well. I regret to report that during the second year of the expedition, A. P. Spencer-Smith died of scurvy on the Barrier on March 9 th, Captain Mackintosh and V. G. Hayward perished on -May Bth, 1910, being overtaken by
a blizzard which broke up the sea and ice over which they were attempting to cross from Hut Point to Cape Evans. “The Aurora left McMurdo Sound on January 19th, and should arrive in Wellington about February 10th.
“The next-of-kin of Smith is his mother, 51 Palace Street, Westminster, London. Captain Mackintosh's wife lives at Bedford, England, Hayward’s mother resides at Ecklimville, Connaught Road, Harlesden, Londou.”
