BOWLING.

Yesterday afternoon the Shannon Club sent two rinks to Foxton to endeavour to “pluck” the Kinniburgh and Awahou Feathers from the holders. The green was in good order, but the strong north-easterly wind made play difficult. As far as the Kinniburgh Feathers were concerned it was “moulting season” for the holders, and these trophies are now in possession of the Shannon players. For the first half of the game the play was fairly even, after the fourth head the score being four all and the boardread nine all after the tenth head had been played. The holders scored two on the eleventh head, but on the next four heads the visitors put on nine, making the totals 18 —12. Any chance the holders had was practically extinguished on the eighteenth head, when the visitors put on a six, and they had a margin of 1(1 points In their favour at the conclusion of the game. Shannon scored on fourteen heads, and Foxton on seven. The holders of the Awahou Feathers had no difficulty in retaining the trophies. They scored three on the It Ist head, and were in front all the way, having a margin of 13 points to spare at the finish. They scored on fifteen heads against their opponents six.
