SEASIDE NOTES.
A very successful social function was held at the seaside last night in the form of a progressive euchre party. Mr Langley generously placed his large marquee at the disposal of those responsible for the gathering. Prizes were presented by Mrs Hogg (gents, box of handkerchiefs), Mr Hocking (ladies, box of Jiahdkerchiefs), and Mrs Grant (booby prizes). Mrs Hocking and Mr Stewart were the winners of the first prizes, and Air R. Hines and Aliss Stockwell were awarded the booby prizes. Considerable amusement, was created in the unravelling of the gent’s booby prize. It was labelled to be parsed from one to the other, and the final instructions were that the winner had to auction the prize, which was done, realising Bs. The *function added £2 18s to the Beach improvement fund. Supper was provided by Air Geo.. Langley. Mr Hocking and Airs Grant were responsible for the gathering.
Next Saturdtiy afternoon juvenile sports are to be held, which should attract a number of outside folks. The programme will include swimming and diving events, foot races, money hunt, sand-building designs, etc.
There is a movement afoot to build a hall for the holding of social functions, and the construction of a tennis court. But more on this subject anon.
All the residences are still fully occupied, and will he until the Easter holidays.
