HEMP AND TOW RETURNS.
The total number of bales of hemp graded by the Government experts last month at various ports was 15,343, as compared with 14,12!) for the corresponding period of last year, an increase of 1,214 bales. For the twelve months inded 31st December, lOlti, the number of bales graded was 150,841, as compared with 121,215 for the previous twelve months, an increase of 29,(120 bales.
During the month 3,528 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 4,440 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 91.2 bales. For the twelve months ended 31st December, 1010, the number of bales graded was 40,340, as compared with 32,901 for the ifrevious twelve months, an increase of 7,385 bales. Of stripper-slips, 401 bales were graded during the month, as compared with 750 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 295 bales. For the twelve months ended 31st December, 1910, the number of bales graded was 0,183, as compared with 4,047 for the previous twelve mouths, an increase of 2,130 bales.
