CONCERT AT THE SEASIDE.
A very successful concert, organised by Mr AV. G. Harwood and Mrs Grant, in aid of the seaside improvement fund, was held in a large marquee in front of Langley’s accommodation house last night. Admission was by silver coin, and about £5 was netted. There was a “full house,” and the concert programme was keenly appreciated by those present. Mr Harwood officiated as chairman, and in opening, referred to the necessity of dressing shelters for bathers. The concert was to raise funds for this object, and a committee, consisting of Messrs W. .Bock, Geo. Langley, Lawton and B. Pratt, with power to add, had consented to receive and administer the funds. He hoped that sufficient money would be raised to erect the shelters. The first part of the programme was given by juveniles, including a number of cleverly rendered items by members of the talented Sutcliffe family.
