EXEMPTION FOR A TEACHER.
CANTERBURY BOARD’S ATTITUDE. Christchurch, Dee. 7. At a meeting of the Gontorlmry Education Board to-day the chairman said a letter had been received from the committee .of the Rnnanga school slating that Mr ()’- Flynn, headmaster, bad been drawn for military service, and asking the hoard to apply tor exenipt ion.
Mr Grimmond moved: —“That this board desires publicly to state that it will assist, in every manner it can its employees to serve (lie Dominion and the Empire in its present struggle, and that the board will not apply fur exemption in this ease." It was also resolved to ask. the Defence Department if a statement that exemption had already been granted to (be headmaster ol the Runanga school without reference to 1 lie board corree!.
