BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of tin- local Borough Council was held last night for the purpose of; receiving a report from the special commit lee set. up to inspect the gas holder ottered for sale hy the Gisborne Gas Co., Ltd. There were present: The Mayor (Alf. Fraser, Esq.), Crs. Bryant, Coley, Freeman, Henderson, McColl, Stevenson, Simmons, and Thompson. An apology was received from Cr Whibley. The Committee, consisting of the Mayor and Cr Coley, reported (hat in conjunction with the gas manager they inspected the holder, which was found to be in good order and condition, and they purchased the gas holder for £7O and two puritiers foi; £2O. The action of the committee was endorsed. Details of removal and re-construction were then discussed . It was resolved that the gas manager proceed to Gisborne and dismantle the. ladder, and have it shipped to Foxtail, and re-erect it on its arrival. After some dis-
mission re construction of concrete tank for holder, it was resolved to consult with an export in this work before definitely deciding whether the work should be done by contract or day labour. The Council realise that, the erection of a new holder with increased capacity is urgently required to meet the increasing demand, and the work will be proceeded with as expeditiously as possible.
