THE GAS WORKS.
MANAGER’S REPORT.
Tiie gas manager's report as follows was read and adopted at last night’s Borough Council meeting:—“Since last report we have fixed four new services requiring
meters, and two targe cookers have been installed. Several orders for liftings to be installed are now receiving attention. No coal Ims been taken in during the month. As my regular assistant was laid aside again through sickness, 1 found it necessary to spend most of my time inside the works. The consumption of gas shows the usual favourable increase. The carbonising plant is giving general satisfaction. Wc are still working the bench of six retorts, and it is well to bear in mind that with the increase in output we could not supjdy the present demand if we wore compelled to go buck and use the small bench of four retorts unless we make provision for additional storage.”
