CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.) Sir. —I noticed l>y the papers that the Board of Trade some time ago fixed the maximum price of butler at 1/7 per lb. I don’t know how long' it lakes the Government to enforce this finding upon retailors but at present we are being charged 1/8 per lb. in Eoxton, while in Palmerston it is being retailed at 1/5 and 1/(5 per lb. In Wellington 1/7 per lb. is the price. Can yon tell yonr readers why the Eoxton storekeepers are charging Is 8d per lb. —1 am, etc., FAMILY MAX. [A local grocer informs us that he is paying' Is (id per lb. wholesale for butter, plus freight. He adds that consumers will have to look beyond the retailers Cor a drop.— Ed.H.]
