ENTERTAINMENTS.
“OUR PICTURES.” To-night’s programme at. the Town Hall is of a double-barrelled nature, consisting of two complete star pictures, a 5,000 ft. Metro production, “Sins of Society, and a 5,000 ft. World Film photoplay, “Rosemary.” Both pictures are of the usual high quality produced lu these popular companies, and the supporting items are of a specially interesting nature, and constitute a really tip-top programme. MONDAY.
On Monday a star picture of merit will be screened in “The Morals of Marcus,” a photoplay adapted from the famous novel and successful play by William J. Lockie. “The Morals of Marcus,” as produced by the Famous Players Company', is one of the outstanding successes of the screen. Added to the wonderful charm of the story, the many exciting situations and interesting development of the plot, is a, notable cast of artists, headed by Aliss Marie Doro, whose work on the screen ranks with the highest in her profession. Possessing great beauty, Aliss Doro also has rare ahility and personal charm, and in the character of “Carlolta,” the unconventional girl of Locke’s story, she is said to be seen at her best. The him faithfully follows the original story. Carlo!la’s father, a missionary in Turkey, has been killed by brigands, and the mother, to save her daughter’s life, miters the harem of a wealthy Turk named ITamdi. AVhen a young woman, Carlotla escapes a hateful marriage, and eventually reaches England, only to hud herself homeless and friendless. She accidentally encounters and excites the interest of Sir Marcus Ordeyne. Sir Marcus takes the girl under his protection, and after many 7 exciting and often amusing adventures, Carlotta and Sir Alarcus find happiness. The whole story is one of the prettiest romances imaginable. As well iis the star picture, there will be shown “A Visit to the Paris Zoo,” one of the largest in the world; the “Pathe Gazette,” and a Charlie Chaplin cartoon comedy 7, “Charlie in Cuckoo Land.”
