FOXTON PATRIOTIC SHOP.

The Patriotic Shop was open as usual on Saturday last, under the charge of Misses J. A. Ross and I. Robinson, who gratefully acknowledge gifts from the following: — Mesdames Austin-.lohnston, F. Stevenson, Do Ridder, Alexander, Bayden, Easton, Misses Thymic and Speirs.

Next Saturday’s proceeds■ will be devoted to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, and (he shop will he under the charge of' Mrs Baker and Miss Speirs. The monthly meeting of the Soviet v will be Jield at the Council Chambers on Thursday, October Pith, at 7.80 p.m. The members of the Society are particularly requested to attend the reception to be tendered to-night, to Chaplain-Captain Father Dore, at the 'Town .Hall.

Advantage will also be taken of (be occasion to meet Mrs .1. S. Luke, the Mayoress of Wellington, who will speak on women’s work in connection with the war, and will make an appeal on behalf of the Christmas Gift Fund now being raised. The ladies are asked to assist in the supper arrangements by bringing a basket. A cordial invitation to all relumed soldiers is extended.
