HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A committee meeting of the above was held last night, presided over by the president, Mr P. (I. Jackson. Owing to the inclement weather there was not a large attendance!. Correspondence was received re glass vases, and it was decided to hold over purchase of same for the present. A statement of receipts and expenditure of the recent Bull) •show was submitted by the Secretary its follows: —-Receipts ,€,30 Ills fid, made up as follows: door £(i ss, tea-room €2 10s fill, sweets stall £5 11s, sheep-guessing €3 2s, cake do 18s, entry fees £0 3s, special prizes £3 10s. Expenditure; Schedules £2 17s fid, hire of hall £2, advertising 30s, prize money £l2 13s, sundry items £4 ISs 10d, total £23 Ills 4d, leaving a balance to credit of £7 0s 2d. Accounts were passed for payment.
The following Judges were appointed for the Spring Shpw: Pot plants and cut blooms, Mr A. J. Similar; fruit and vegetables, Mr Wigliion;'cookery and home industries, Mr F. O. Smith; fancy work, Miss Mortenscu; decorative, Mrs Hume; school work, Mr Watkiu; school garden plots, left iu the hands of the president.
It was resolved that it is desirable that judging should commence at 11.3(1 a.m.
Voles of thanks were passed to the judges, stewards, .Borough Band, Mr Belly's orchestra, and others in connection with the recent Bulb Show; also Mr P. Lumsden for his donation of 10s (id won as a points
prize. A vote of thanks terminated the meeting.
