BREACH OF MOTOR REGULATIONS.

RECKLESS DRIVING. HEAVY FINE INFLICTED. At the Magistrate’s Court yoslerdav, Stanley Austin, who .did not appear, was charged on the information of the police, with, on September 23rd, recklessly driving a motor car along Main Street. Constable Woods said that defendant, at about 7.45 p.m. on (he date mentioned drove his car round the corner into Main Street from the Avenue Road and along Main Street at a pace of between 80 and 40 miles an hour. At the time there were a large number of people in the street. When questioned, defendant gave as his reason for driving so fast that he “was in a hurry.” The Magistrate said it was a very dangerous practice, and would have to stop. Defendant would be lined CIO, with costs 7s.
