“OUR PICTURES.”
A programme of exceptional merit will bo screened at tlio Town Hall to-night, featuring as a special attraction a 5,000f|. World Film prodnolion, ‘‘Tlio Heart of the Blue Ridge," a Sluibort feature in five acts. and featuring’ Clara Kimball doling’. In (lie present stage of human ingenuity it is impossible for an individual to duplicate or multilily himself or herself. This is a pity in respect of the famous motion picture artist, Clara Kimball Young, whose work is in such strong demand by exhibitors and the public that it is a physical impossibility to satisfy it. In the part of “Plntina," Miss Young has a part which brings out her very varied emotional gifts to perfection, and gives her a chance of putting over a very strong offering indeed. The story concerns (he doings of some picturesque people in the moonshine country. and there is a very powerful plot to it. Pint inn has a pet bear and two lovers who light for and over her; then they light among themselves —the bad one is killed — the good tine survives and marries I’lulina. . The richness of the setting, the beauty and vigour of .Miss Young’s impersonation, have made a veritable sensation both in England and America. The popular young actor. Mr Chester Barnett, is also included in the cast, which is exceptiona Ily powerful. TUESDAY (One Night Onlv). “.TELES."
••Jells." which will bo shown on Tuesday, for one night only, at the Town Hall, is a play that has cominandod attention throughout' Ani-erh-a and Australasia. Written by if, A. Vaehell, “Jell's” was one of (he best sellers of the season, and its popularity was so great that the Loudon Film Company arranged to prodtiee it as a photoplay. The story of ‘’Jolt's” is one that will delight everyone. “Jolt’s.” one of nature's noblemen living a rancher's life on the plains of Canada, is called home to London to carry on an old-established bank bequeathed to him by his father. His unconventional way of sett ling big financial questions makes his confreres stand aghast, at his audaetiy. Heir to £30,000 a year, his advent into society creates a sensation, especially among mothers of marriageable daughters. His straightforward manner leads to unforsecn difficulties in various directions, but eventually he wins a place in the social and financial world and marries the beauty of the season. The play is brimful of stirring dramatic action, and its pathos and humour, blended with its tense drama, make a picture that will have’ a big following. Henry Ainley, who plays the part of “Jell/' is an actor of rare ability, and his interpretation of the leading roles in “The Prisoner of Zenda” and “liupert of lientzau” was acclaimed by critics as unrivalled for artistic and dramatic performance. The supporting items are of a varied and interesting nature, including the Gaumont Graphic and a rollicking comedy featuring Mr and Mrs Sydney Drew.
