MR. BUICK AND HARBOUR RATING.
To-day’s Palmerston Times credits Air David Buick, AI.P. for Palmerston with the following; “ ‘l’m your member, and I’ll never agree to the proposal of the Harbour Board to rate this district of ours. If the people want to pay the rate I’m satisfied, but I’m not having any Foxton parochialism,’ said Air David Buick, AI.P., at a social function yesterday afternoon. Air Buick further declared that Wellington was Palmerston’s port, not Foxton.” W c can hardly believe that the /Times has correctly reported Air Buick. Anyhow, if he made such a statement and meant what he said, then all we can say is that it is time Palmerston electors put him “out to graze.” No “Foxton parochialism.” The port is a thousand times ■ of greater importance to Palmerston than Foxton, and if this dull-witted politician hail followed up the evidence of the Commission and the statements of Palmerston and otherdistrict public men he would talk differently. The rating area is vital to the acquisition of* the wharf and the welfare of the port, but what’s the use of going over the old ground again ? Air Buiek’s opinions are not worth further serious thought —he’s a back number.
