Hirer, charged with breaches of f contract for supplying military (dollies to the New Zealand Govern- , ment, was concluded to-day, and ■ the Magistrate, Mr Reid, reserved , his decision, which will probably be : given on Monday. MIN ISTER’S STATEMENT. Auckland, Last Night. Mr Myers, Minister of Munitions, slated to-day that as the case of Abraham Levy was still sub-judiee. he could not make any statement on the subject, except to say that the cancellation of conti’act would not make any difference so far as obtaining supplies was concerned. Arrangements had been made for the completion of the balance of the contract, ‘‘The rumour,” said the .Minister, “that I had cancelled the contract of another clothing manufacturer owing to the use of cotton instead of linen thread was correct.”
In reply to a query as to the damage done in a recent fire at Trenthani, he said it had been found that the loss was not so serious as was at first anticipated. “In any ease the holding of reserve stocks had disposed of any difficulty likely to have been experienced in supplying equipment for reinforcements that enter camp,” explained the Alinis-, 1 er.
