PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
In a Jotter to ono of tlie officebearers of (lie above olmroh, the Rev. G. K. Aitken, of Aleihvcn, who pioneered the Eoxton charge and was mainly responsible for raising it from a home-mission district to the status of a fully sanctioned charge, in referring to the report of the last annual meeting, writes; “I was pleased to receive the Session report, etc., of my old charge. I have, 'as you already know, a very warm spot in my heart for the dear old place and the dearer friends. It is no reflection on the good folk's here that I have notmade the friends in Methven that I did in Eoxton. I would give something to pop in some day and just have a yarn with one and another as in the old days, when we were struggling to get the charge on its feet again. I often bade back on those days and wonder how we managed to get things moving, and many a laugh I have when T become reminiscent ol those anxious and yet happy times. Again and again the thought of God’s guiding and sustaining hand has impressed me when I have remembered the tangled proposition we had to face nearly ten years ago. And to-day when I read your report and note (he progress that has 'been made, have to exclaim, “Surely goodness and mercy have followed you all in your undertakings.” I most heartily congratulate you all, minister and congregation, on the prosperous conditions now existing as compared with the past, and 1 pra\ that God’s richest blessing may he upon vou all and abound.”
