FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
The Patriotic Shop Avas open last Saturday, under the charge of Misses J. Ross and N. Robinson, and ail previous records were broken, the net proceeds being £2b, Avbich is to be handed to the Belgian Relief Fund. The sheep Aveight-guessing competition for a sheep presented by Mr Sydney Easton, avsis a big success, £4 13s being raised. The correct Aveight, TOJIbs., avus guessed by Mcsdames Mandl and Teviotdale and Messrs Martin (Palmerston N) and Rnffoil. Mrs Woodroofe again kindly conducted the competition. The other competitions avcvo the age of a cockl'd presented by Mr M. H. Walker (347 days), Avon by Mr Jus. Ross, the number of scollops on a table centre presented by Mrs Healey (s(i), Avon by Mrs Mandl, and (be ingredients of a cake presented by an anonymous donor (brandy tea and stout), Avon by .Mrs Hawaii. Tin* correct ans Aver was guessed in each instance. Gifts Avere received from JMesdamos Fee, Harvey, F. Robinson, HaAvke, Thymic, Greig, IT. Thymic, Alex. Ross, W. Ross, Wallace, A. S. Easton, J. Stevenson, Raikes (Oroua Doavus), John Robinson, U. Symons, W. E. Barber, Do Bidder, Rough, Miss Speirs, Messrs Joe Niitg, Bullard, Shailer, F. Robinson, W. Ross, Hughes, Jas. Ross, Huntley, C. Spiers, A. Ross and M. Hamilton. Next Saturday’s proceeds Avill lie devoted to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, and Mrs Baker and Mif*t Speirs Avill supervise.
