SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The ordinary monthly meeting of (he local State School Committee was held on Tuesday night. Present: Messrs Hornblow (chairman), McMm-ray (secretary), Rev. J. H. Bmlin, Belly, Perreau and Woods. The secretary reported that he, had given instructions some time ago to have the necessary locks lilted on Ihe doors at the school, hut up to the present the work had not been done. Correspondence was road and received from the Board (1) re the appoinlment of Miss Al. Rawson as pupil teacher vice Miss Sewell transferred; (2) that the Board is unable to sec its way to make a grant towards the cost of erecting it bicycle stand ut the school, and authorising the purchase of three forms for the quadrangle; (3) that the foreman of works had been instructed to report to the Board on the proposal to carry out improvements to the teacher’s residence; ( I) that the Board is unable to see its wav to make a grant for providing a well, pump and trough in (lie horse paddock at the school. In respect to the alterations and improvements to the teacher’s residence, the Chairman said lie had asked Air Fraser to inspect the house, and this had been done. It was hoped as (lie result id’ the mspeelion and correspoiidenee with the Board on the subject, that necessary improvements would he carried out.
