A lON THLY AIEETIN G. The monthly meeting of tire Manawatu County Council was held at Sanson on Tuesday. Present; Crs. (Sir James Wilson (chairman), Hunt, Gray, Barber, Phillips, and Penny. The Treasurer reported as follows ; —General account, dr.. £3,848 ills 7d;loau account, cr M £7(iti 7s 4(1. Amounts available for expenditure; (Sandon £732 I.os lid, All. Stewart £399 ,47s 9d, AVaitohi £528 11s 2d, Buugotea £Bl7 Ils lid, Carvon £509 4s Bd, Kawa, Kawa £740 12s Id, Awaboii £407 IBs 2d. The Tramway Alanager reported: —The statement of earnings and expenditure shows a. debit of £351 15s Id. Included in expenditure are the following - items; Stewart Bros., repairs loeo., £3OB 15s 9d: D. Alurray, do., £35 3s; W. Gowern, sleepers, £ll ss; extra work, relaying, etc.., £45 lls; total, £4OO 14s 9d. The following were the chief items of Ira Hie; Grain 158 i tons, minerals and manure 111 tons, merchandise 1484 tons, timber 49,900 feet, Jams amounted to £3 8s 2d. Air Tostevin lias commenced bis duties as storeman, He., and Air A. George has been appointed temporarily as guard on train. The locomotive Baiigilikei has been running satisfactorily during the past, mouth, 'flio repairs to locomotive Alanawal a will be completed by tomorrow. Great ditliculty is being experienced in obtaining an engine driver for the ballast train, and up to the present we have been unsuccessful.
The engineer's report as under was adopted: — Carnarvon, Kawa Kawa, and Awahoii Ridings. —Metal has been carted and holes patched up along the Eoxton-Eandon road between Whale Bine and Motuiti. During the past month 1 had a cart shed built for the roadman at Ilimatangi. Awahoii Riding. —Mr E. Alger has completed Ids contract for supplying and delivering metal on the Foxton-Ehannon road. I have had about 90 yards of crushed metal put on the Whirokino road in the worst places, and it will be necessary to put another 100 yards, on this road as soon as the metal can be supplied.
Kawa Kawa and Awahou Hidings.—During the past month 1 ordered (it) yards oil metal to he delivered at the Jiainesse siding. This has come to hand, and the hulk of the metal has already been put on the Palmerston-Foxton road in the worst places. To put this road in lair order it will he necessary to supply the whole ol the metal allocated for this road, namely 400 yards.
