WOMAN BURNED TO DEATH,

Dunedin, July 21.

A distressing fatality is reported at llovensbornc. Upon returning at <).r>() last, night from Port Chalmers, Geo. Anderson, a carpenter, found his house locked up. On elfecting an entrance he discovered Ins wife Thomasina Anderson, aged 3(>, lying in the passage, apparently having been burned to death, only a vestige of clothing being left on her. The lire from the burning garments had burned through the oilcloth, and also through a board an inch thick where she lay. It is believed the fatality was the result of mental illness. Bank hooks and gold articles were found burnt in the fireplace.
