SOCIAL AND PRESENTATION" TO Alii. AND AID’S. SENIOR.

For many years Mi' and Airs J. Senior have been familiar figures in tin* life of the community at the local seaside, and in a variety of ways they have identified themselves will) its progress and rendered valuable services to (he seaside holidaymakers, weeks-enders and residents. No trouble has ever been too great for them if it was conducive to the convenience and pleasure of the residents at the Beach. Their intentions, therefore, to take up their residence near Sumner, in the South island, was received with regret, and it was felt that the occasion of (heir departure could not be allowed to pass without some tangible expression of the general feeling of gratitude for their kindliness and courtesy. A gathering was arranged for Saturday night at Air Langley's and was very largely attended. Air T. 11. Ilodder presided, and in the course of a short address he asked Air and Airs Senior to accept a handsome marble clock from their friends at the Beach. Mr Ilodder eulogised the recipients, and said Air Senior was looked upon as one of the assets of the Beach. They possessed many good ipialitios and very general regret was felt at their departure. Air J. Betr emphatically endorsed Air Hodder’s remarks, and presented the guests with an illuminated address signed by the householders at the Beach. Air E. R. B. ITolhen also spoke, asking Airs Senior’s acceptance of a travelling rug and referring to her many estimable qualities. Alany of (hose present briefly added their tribute, and Air Senior then gratefully acknowledged the gifts.

Pierard; toast, "()ur Boys at the Front," proposed hy Air llolben and responded to hy Afessrsr K. AlcKnight, .1. Belt, and A. L. Bennett; sung, Air IL AleKnight ; souy. Air d. Belt; toast, "The Fox ton Harbour Board," proposed hy Air .1. Senior and replied to hy Air Lawton; toast, "Our Host, proposed hy the ehairman; “Aaid Lang Syne."

Gn I itosday night, Air Senior was entertained by the. members of the local Masonic Lodge, of which he is a P.M. The \\ ,A 1 [(resided, and proposed the toast of the, guest and referred in eulogistic terms to the departing brother, both as a citizen and Mason. Bor. Bro. Ilornblow endorsed the W.AL’s remarks, ami the toast was drunk with honours. Won Bro. Senior feelingly responded.
