H. field, M.P., that the report of the Royal Commission set up to take evidence in connection with the proposed acquisition of the Foxton wharf by the Foxton Harbour Board and the question of linking up the Main Trunk line between Levin and Greatford or Marion, or granting permission to extend the Sanson tramway, had been sent to His Excellency the Governor. On Saturday we received advice of the main points of the recommendations, hut as the publication of same would have been a breach of privilege. were not published by ns. Last night’s Post contained the following: “The report of the Royal Commission set up to enquire into the whole matter of the Foxton wharf and to take evidence is not yet ready for presentation to the House of Representatives. AVhen the report is available, however, it will probably be found that the Commission recommends the sale of the wharf by the Railway Department to the Harbour Board, the price assessed being £5,000. One of the conditions of the purchase, it is understood, is that the rating area is capable of a revenue of £4,000 per annum. These, it is stated, are the two main recommendations in the report.”
