FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
The Patriotic Shop, under Mesdames Kerr-llislop and Kcllow, was open as usual on Saturday last, the worst weather since the opening day being experienced, despite winch more than average business was done. Cakes for guessing competitions were presented by Mrs Walls and Mr Perreau, but sufficient entries not having been received, the competition will be continued next Saturday. Donations and gifts are gratefully acknowledged from the following: Mesdames .1. Walls, C. P. Johnslon, Healey, Kerr-Hislop, A. King, Frank Robinson, A. Ross, D. Purcell, Gibbs, A. S. Easton, Kellow, John Ross, John Robinson, Cbas. Robinson, Misses Speirs, Signal, Messrs Woodlmm, Perreau, Howe, T. R burner, Greig, Win. floss, W. Bock, Friends (3). Next Saturday Mrs Baker and Miss Speirs will have charge. The Monleka apples command a ready sale, and a supply, including the famous Lippialt dessert, is again expected. The Patriotic Boxes are being emptied this week, and as donations for both May and June are included, a record collection is expected. The secretary will, be at the Patriotic Shop on Thursday and Friday evenings, at 3 o’clock, to lake over (lie money from collectors.
The July meeting of the Society will he held al the Council Chambers on Thursday of next week, 13th July, :ii 7.30 p.m. Canvassers for (he complelioii of the National Register have not yet been appointed, and it any person knowing of a returned soldier who would undenake the work would pass the information on to the Society a good service would lie rendered.
