AN UNUSUAL CLAIM.

An interesting case was set down for hearing at the sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Eketahuna the other day. A local settler saw a line of stock advertised by an auctioneering lirm, to be sold on behalf of a certain owner. He travelled some distance to be present at the sale, but found that the stock were not offered. He thereupon instituted proceedings against the auctioneer and the owner of the stock for his travelling expenses. As the owner had paid the travelling expenses before the sitting of the Court a magisterial decision on an interesting legal point became unnecessary.
