THE HEMP MARKET.
Thorp has boon very link* movement in the* hornj) mark;'! during the past few weeks. Iml the price- at present offering 1 are slightly better than a week ago. To-day's limitations are approximately £33 per ton for good fair, £32 for high fair, and £3l for low fair. Tow i< quoted at £l3. £l2 and £ll for lirst. second and third grade respectively. The .Mexican trouble will probably be responsible for an increased demand for Xew Zealand hemp in the United States, but whether it will have any appreciable effect on prices is problematic-til. The supply of Mexican sisal is drawn from Yucatan, and at present this part of Mexico which is far removed from the border, is quiet, and the production of hemp nitty not he greatly interfered with. The exporting of same, however. will he affected, and if the trouble in this connection is prolonged probably it will affect the price of Xew Zealand hemp.
