MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
ORDINARY MEETING,
The ordinary meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held mi Thursday evening. Present Messrs B. G. Gower (chairman), W. E. Barber, .1. Chryslall, I'. S. Easton and 0. Robinson. The Chairman reported that the main drain had been cleaned out from end to end, at an average cost of Os 8d per chain. Arrangements had been made for cleaning all the other drains, comprising the Kari Kari, Leen’s, Cook's, Saunders' W.-dl’s, Smith’s and Carter's, a total of 550 chains, and this work was well under way. The total cost of the drain cleaning would be £327. Members were unanimous that the operations in (his direction this year were very satisfactory, and that the drains would be in better order than at any time since the Board was formed. The Clerk reported that the overdraft stood at £2l4s Od. It was decided to apply to the Minister for Internal Affairs for permission to rate on a uniform scale as hitherto. The following rates were struck for the current year : A general rale of three-farthings in the £, realising £433, as against eleven-six-teenths of a penny in the £ last year, bringing in £305. It was also decided to collect the usual halfpenny special rate. The balance-sheet for the year ended March 31st was presented, and was adopted, subject to audit. Accounts amounting to £2O 3s were passed for payment. It was decided that members meet at the Kari Kari drain on Monday for the purpose of making a general inspection of the drains.
