FOOD PRICES.
Thk latest returns of food prices are published in this mouth’s Labour Journal, The Government Statistician (Mr Malcolm Fraser) shows the following percentage increase in the prices of meat, dairy produce, and groceries as compared with July, 1914 Wellington, 14.31 per cent. ; Auckland, 15.69 ; Christchurch, 16,78 ; Dunedin, i?-37- Tlie greatest increases are for Ashburton 26.89, and Palmerston North 25,25 ; while Nelson has the lowest figure—6.49. The Dominion weighted average is 16.17. Wellington’s increases over the three groups, taken separately, are as follow:— Groceries, 21 per cent. ; dairy-produce, 1.63 per cent. ; meat, 15.69 per cent
