GERMAN AIR SERVICES.
When the Germans a few weeks ago made extravagant claims for their air service in France, there was a suspicion that its increase in efficiency was due to the withdrawal of machines from other fronts. However this may have been, it is clear that in the Balkans the German air service was much inferior to that of the allies, A newspaper correspondent, writing from Salonika under date January 24, said : “The inferiority of the enemy in aerial equipment, both in numbers ot aircraft and in efficiency ot service, is every day becoming plainer. Not a single enemy aeroplane rose to oppose yesterday’s attacks at Monastir and Gieugelu, and it is ten days since their machines have made even a reconnaissance over the allied lines, whereas French airmen daily reconnoitre the enemy positions.”
