FOXTON’S RAILWAY SERVICE.
COUNCIL COMPLAINS.
At last night's Council meeting Cr Henderson referred to the very unsatisfactory way in which the train service was running at present. It was quite an exception for a train to arrive in Foxton up to time. He moved that the Minister for Railways’ attention be drawn to the irregularity of trains, running between Foxton and Palmerston North and vice versa, for a considerable time, which has been a great detriment to the travelling public, and a copy of the resolution be sent to Mr W. H. Field, M.P. The Mayor said that when he interviewed the Minister some time ago in connection with this matter, Mr Herries said he knew the trains were running irregularly but there was not sufficient passenger traffic on the line to warrant any alteration, but he promised to look into the matter. The Mayor said that Mr Field was already moving in this connection, and the passing of the motion would strengthen his hands.
