TOWN CLERK’S REPORT.

The Town Clerk reported as under at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council: — “I have the honour to report that the road staff has been ' engaged as under since last meeting : Cleaning water channels in Main, Union, Wharf, and Park Streets ; tarring Main Street and carting metal, and filling holes in No. 6 line, Moutoa and Avenue Roads, Union and Johnston Streets. Clearing up yard and cleaning out drain in Avenue road. The drains will now be all taken in hand and cleaned out in order. I would suggest that this year we get on with our metalling earlier than hitheno, and that the Public Works Committee give this matter their early attention, so that as soon as the drain cleaning is finished we can get on with the metalling and get the best results from the wet weather.”
