INFANTILE PARALYSIS.
AUCKLAND SCHOOLS TO BE CLOSED. Auckland, F'eb. 28. As the result of a conference between the Healtl' 1 borities and the Board of Euucation in regard to steps to check infantile paralysis, it has been decided to close the public schools of the city and suburbs and a uumber of the larger schools in the country for the nest fortnight as an experiment. Eleven cases were reported to-day, making the total 28q. Chkistchnrch, Feb. 26. A girl thirteen years of age was to-day taken to the Christchurch Hospital from Sumner, suffering from infantile paralysis. She has been unwell for some time, and is now affected in both legs. It is reported that there are two new cases at Gisborne, and one in the Taranaki district.
