LADIES PATRIOTIC GUILD.

An urgent appeal has been received by the Foxton Ladies Patriotic Guild from the Wellington Hospital Guild and the Lady Liverpool Fund for garments for the men in the firing line and for the wounded. The call is ‘urgent and the local guild is anxious to assist. We are asked to point out that the guild is not asking tor funds—although cash is always acceptable in such a splendid cause—but requires workers to make up the necessary articles. During the summer months there has been a falling off in the number of workers who previously undertook work for the guild and the women of Foxton who have a little time to spare, if only a few minutes each day, could do a great deal to assist in this way. The guild has sufficient material in hand to make up into the necessary garments, etc., for which the urgent appeal is made and all willing to assist are invited to attend the guild meeting in the Council Chambers to-morrow afternoon or if more convenient to communicate with Miss J. Ross or Mrs R. Moore, joint secretaries, or Mrs F. Robinson, president. We appeal to the Foxton womenfolk to do all they can to assist the guild in response to this urgent appeal, and we hope to report a hearty response as a result.
