HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A committee meeting of the above was held last night. Mr G. H. Stiles (president) occupied the chair, and there were present: Mesdames Gallaud and Renton, Misses Speirs, N. and A. Neylon, Messrs Galland, Newth, Hornblovv, and D- Whibley. Apologies lor absence were received from Miss Signal and Mr Bullard. Correspondence was read and dealt with. The following judges were appointed for the Autumn Show, to be held on March y'h and 10th next : Pot plants and cut blooms, Mr F. Penn (Otaki), vice, Mr Black ; vegetables and farm produce Mr Shailer (Palmerston); dairy produce, cookery, and home industries, Mr Smith (I,evin); decorative, Mrs Bradlield, vice Mrs Hume ; stewards : —Pot plants, Mr D, Whibley ; cut blooms, 35 —51, Mrs C. H. Symons, 18 — 34, Miss Signal, 52 —67, Miss Neylon; fruit and vegetables, Mr Newth and Mr C. Symons ; farm produce, Mr T. Henderson ; dairy produce, cookery and home industries, Mrs Jas, Robinson and Miss Signal; decorative, Mrs Renton, door stewards, Messrs Henderson, Whibley and Kempster; supervising steward, Mr G. H. Stiles ; tea room. Mesdames Jas. Newth, P. Robinson and Procter; sweets stall, Mrs F. Woods ; sheep guessing, Messrs Fumsdeu and Bullard ; competitions, Mr P. Robinson.
It was decided to invite the the pupils of the local day schools to be present free of charge on the second day of the show, to be in charge of responsible persons. It was decided to ask the baud to assist with a musical programme, and also to ask Mr Betty to provide an orchestral and vocal programme.
Mrs C. H. Symons and Miss Kelly were elected members of the committee in place of Mesdames Boyes and Saunders resigned.
