PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The adjourned quarterly meeting of the district committee of the above was held at Rangiotu yesterday. The Moderator (Rev J. H. Bredin) presided and there were also present; Messrs Alex. Matheson, McCully (Tiakitabuna), W. Amon, Farmer, Costall (Glen Oroua'), H. Wilton, Low, Glendinning, McAulay (Rangiotu), and Hornblow and Renton (Foxton). The treasurer (Mr Matheson) presented the half-yearly financial statement to Dec. 31st, IQ I . 1 )) which was discussed at length. On the motion of Mr Matheson it was decided to urge upon congregations the necessity of systematic individual giving in order to provide assured finance throughout the charge to meet current expenditure. It was also recommended that no new works be undertaken until present liabilities are met. A special effort is to be made by the three district congregations to follow Foxton’s example and raise The resignation of Mr Matheson as district treasurer was accepted with regret and an appreciation of his services was ordered to be recorded on the minutes. Mr H. J. Claris was unanimously elected district treasurer, subject to his acceptance. Other minor matters were disposed of and subsequently the delegates were hospitably entertained at luncheon in the hall by Mesdames McAulay, Low and Glendinning to whom the usual thanks were accorded in a happy and characteristic speech by “Father” Costall.

At a meeting of session held subsequently, a motion that Tiakitahuna receive a fortnightly service instead of monthly by tl\e minister, was not sustained. Mr McCully tendered his resignation from the eldership and Mr Hornblow was elected session clerk.
