In another column the Defence Department warns the public that they will not be liable for debts contracted by unauthorised persons. A written order signed by an authorised officer will be given for all goods required for the Defence Department, and no claim will be recognised unless supported by such an order. In this issue Messrs Stiles and Matheson announce per replace advertisement that their great summer sale commences on Friday next, Februaiy 4th. Bargains in all, departments will astonish everybody, and it is anticipated that this sale will be the biggest event of its kind ever organised by this firm. A cordial invitation is extended to the public to be present on the opening day, because all goods will be marked at give-away prices.
