AT THE SEASIDE.
The children have been having a great time at the local seaside this year, games and competitions ot all kinds being provided. The majority of the youngsters will depart next week for their homes and schools, after having spent one of the most enjoyable seasons yet recorded at the seaside. Most of the residences will be occupied until the Easter holidays.
Yesterday afternoon some swimming and diving events for boys and girls were got off. Mr Hocking officiated as starter, and Mr McDonald judge. The boys’ race under 16 years was won by T. Stockwell, J. Rose 2nd, Davidson 3rd. The girls’ race was won by Thelma Short, Dorothy Sanson 2nd. The prizes for the former were donated by Mr McDonald, for the lattet by Mr Hocking. Euchre parties have been held periodically, and in this connection credit is due to Mrs Grant for her organising ability. There is some talk of erecting a hall for concerts and other social functions. It is considered that a hall and motor bus service would both be a paying proposition and a great convenience.
