Pc-ue’- ;<-.-t£hv tic - .: on H-xant of being traus ierred. to Wellington. The relit iug president occupied the chaii, and there was a good attendance of members. The president’s resignation was received, and on the motion of Mr Heasmau, seconded by Dr Maud, Mr D, Whibley, senior vice-president, was unanimously elected to fill the position. Mr J. McColPwas elected a vicepresident to fill the vacancy caused by Mr Whibley’s election as president.

At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Bowling Club, Mr D. Wbibley, the newly-elected president, on behalf of members of the Club, presented Mr W. Petrie, who has been a member of the Club since its inception, and who had always taken a keen interest in its welfare, serving o n the committee for two years, filling the office of vicepresident last year, and who was this year elected as president of the club, with a gold watch as a token of the esteem in which he was held by members, and as a slight recognition of the services he had rendered the club in the past. Mr Whibley asked the recipient to accept the presentation with the best wishes of the whole of the members. They were very sorry to lose him, and -wished him every success in the future. Mr Petrie said he was unable to express his thanks for the presentation in a manner he would like to. He very much appreciated their kindness, and he certainly did not expect a presentation, and did not think be bad done anything to deserve it. He would always look forward to visiting Foxton and having a game or two on the green where he had spent so many enjoyable hours. He said he felt very much the giving up of the position of president and severing his active connection with the club, as he had been a member since its formation. It was really the only live social club in Foxton. If he might be allowed, he would suggest to members the necessity of making every effort to increase the membership each year, as members’ subscriptions were the club's only source of revenue. In this connection it might be well to consider the acceptance of honorary members at a guinea a year, and also the reduction in the radius for country members, which at present was ten miles. These matters, however, could be kept iu view for the next annual meeting. He wished to take the opportunity of thanking the committee for their assistance during his term of office, and wishing the club every success. Dr Mandl said that every member would agree that Mr Petrie had filled the position of president with conspicuous success, and his departure from Foxton was greatly regretted by members. The suggestions he had made iu reference to honorary and country members were worthy of favourable consideration, and be believed would be a step iu the right direction. Mr F. D. Whibley also paid a tribute to the excellent work of the retiring president. Yesterday afternoon another match for the Nye Ferns was played, the holders again successfully defending their right to retain same, although the game was a particularly close one, an extra head being necessary in order to decide It, The following are the teams and scores :
