ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Gisborne, Dec. 20. Robert Russell, employed at Nelson Bros.' freezing works, was killed by an explosion of the hydro extractor in the fellraongery department this morning, pieces of the cylinder mutilating the body. Hastings, Dec. 20. Arthur Kessell, a son of Robert Kessell, accidentally shot dead his three-year-old brother yesterday morning. The youth had been shooting hares, and in getting into a motor car his Winchester repeating rifle went off, the bullet penetrating the forehead of the child, which was sitting in the back seat between its mother and Mrs Beyan. Masterton, Dec. 19. The body of Mrs Payne, wile of •Mr Henry Payne, formerly a rail--1 way guard, was found in a water course near the house, at an early hour this morning. Deceased, who was seventy-four years of age, and leaves a grownup family, had suffered from dizziness in the head, and it is presumed that she was seized by a fit and fell into the watercourse. An inquest will be held.
