LADIES PATRIOTIC GUILD.

CONFERENCE DELEGATES’ REPORT. The following report was presented by Mrs Greig and Miss Ross, delegates representing the Foxton Ladies Patriotic Guild, at the conference recently held in Wellington, to yesterday’s meeting of the Guild : ‘‘According to your wishes your delegates attended the conference at Wellington last Tuesday, a full report of which is to be forwarded by Mrs Luke in a few days. In the meantime we may just say that it was decided that the Hospital Equipment Department of all guilds combine and work for the British Red Cross. Our part of that work will now be known as the ‘ Foxton, N.Z.. Branch of the British Red Cross Association. It is advisable for all members to pay a small subscription per annum, so that they may be qualified to vote should any occasion arise. The main object of this movement is to prevent any overlapping, and altogether we feel sure it is in every way a most satisfactory arrangement. Mrs Luke and her secretary, Miss Nathan, both expressed their appreciation of the work done by our guild. Miss Nathan, who personally superintends all the packing, said ours was one of the guilds they could always depend ou for good work and good maferial. The band of workers at the Town Hall start work every day at 9 a m. and it is generally 5 or 6 p.m. before they leave, and we saw for ourselves the enormous amount of work they get through. One thing the conference impressed on all, was that though the holiday season is at hand, there will be no holiday for the men at the front and no cessation of hostilities ; therefore the need of providing comforts for the sick and wounded will still exist, and it is hoped that all guilds will do their best to keep up the supply.
