FEEDING MEETING

The Feilding Club’s meetings are among the most popular in the Island and consequently there were very large attendances on the course on Tuesday and yesterday. Investment on the totalisator was brisk, the total handled showing an increase on the corresponding meeting last year. Foxton horses had a good innings and on the first day local sports are said to have done well. Maniaroa, trained by Mr A. M. Wright, won the big events each day, and on both occasions looked to have something to spare. This horse is now right in tip-top fettle and should secure other stakes in the near future. Lady Daylesford, also trained by Wright, ran second on the first day and returned investors a very acceptable dividend. Lady Laddo started on the first day but had a very bad run and finished out of a place. She is worth watching, however. Master Strowan, owned by Mr F, S. Easton and trained by D. McCauley won the big Hurdles first day, but the extra weight he had to carry on the second day apparently affected him as he could only finish in third position.
