“GOOD BYE, SUMMER.’
A special feature of Wednesday's change of programme at the Town Hall is a charming romance ot the imagination, founded on the famous song, “Tosti’s Goodbye,” entitled, ‘‘Good-bye, Summer”. Cut down in the prime of life, Mr and Mrs Blake leave their daughter Valerie In the care of Bonis Marlin, a friend. Brought up in’ an atmosphere of love and contentment, Valerie feels keenly the loss of her parents. Her life with I.ouis Martin is not happy, tor he does not understand her. Wheu Preston Sperry asks Martin tor Valerie’s hand, Martin gives consent. As Sperry’s wife Valerie finds all her artistic tendencies and bright nature crushed. On the birth ot a little son, Valerie finds a new interest in life. But here also she is opposed by Sperry, who does not believe in the artistic training of his son. Valerie, in desperation, goes back to her art studies. She and Hugo St. Clair fall in love, and leave for Europe. Sperry subsequently falls ill, and with the aid of Martin Valerie is induced to return. Solaced only by the love of her child she resumes the old life in the chill atmosphere of her husband’s presence. During the screening of the picture, the song, ‘‘Tosti’s Good-bye,” will be sung by Miss Signal. Other items consist of comedies, dramas, educational and topical subjects.
TONIGHT,
The current programme is of the usual high standard, featuring as a special attraction, “The Sisters,’’ a drama full of domestic importance. Among the supporting Items is a very interesting topical, depicting the departure of the Fourth Reinforcements, besides other good items from the leading studios.
