THREATENING BEHAVIOUR.
At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning before Mr J. W. Poynton S.M., Charles Dix and Arthur Rouse were charged by the police with on September 25th using threatening behaviour in a public place Clyde Street whereby a breach of the peace was occasioned. Pleas of guilty under provocation were entered by both accused. Charles Dix, in evidence, said that with his wife he went to the pictures on the dale in question. His wife went in first and when witness joined her she complained that Rouse had insulted her. At the interval witness spoke to Rouse about the matter and he denied the charge. Witness then struck him and Rouse retaliated. Emily Dix, wife of the previous witness, stated that Rouse used insulting language to her, of which she informed her husband. Arthur Rouse, in evidence, denied insulting Mrs Dix. When Dix spoke to him on the matter he denied the charge and Dix then struck him, witness retaliating. The Magistrate fined both defendants 10s each with costs 7s, a fortnight being allowed in which to pay.
