ALLEGED INFANTICIDE.

ARREST AT HORNBY.

Christchurch, Oct. 18.

Mrs Mary Ann Reed, thirty years of age, was arrested on a charge of murdering her twins by strangling them at Hornby Saturday lasi, It is stated that Mrs Reed, while separated from her husband, gave birth to twins, and soon after told her parents where they were. The parents found the bodies of the twins, strangled by linen bauds, under a gorse hedge. A doctor’s evidence showed that the children had breathed. The Coroner recorded a verdict that deceased, being two newlyborn illegitimate infants, male and female, were killed by their mother.
