SEPTEMBER WORKING
The amount of gas manufactured at the local works during the month of September was 365,000 feet, which, with the amount in holder on September rst, 3,000 ft., made a total of 368,000 ft. The amount, sold to consumers was (lighting) 154.,000ft., (cooking and heating) 60,100 ft., (power) 90,900 ft., 24,000 ft. were used in the street lamps. 21,000 ft. at the works, and there was 4,000 ft. in the holder on October rst., leaving 14,000 ft., representing 4 per cent, of the output, unaccounted lor. Thirty-two tons of coal were carbonised, yielding r 1,400 ft. per ton. The earnings totalled 5s 1 id, made up of: Gas sales, (lighting) £95 4s sd, (heat and power) ,£44 9s rid, meter rent 15s, coke sales £$ 3s 3d, tar sales los 6d, weighing 15s, fitting account, £l2 7s yd, labour (fittings) £1 15s, miscellaneous £2 5s 3d. The expenditure: Coal Bs, salaries and wages ,£53 14s yd, labour (services) ros, (fittings) 15s, fittings 18s id, casks ,£3 9s, working expenses £3B 12s 6d, engine repairs and oil 12s 6d, miscellaneous ss, interest and sinking iund £59 ns Bd, total £206 16s 2d.
