MANAWATU PATRIOTIC SPRING SHOW.

The thirtieth spring show of the Manawatu and West Coast A, and P. Association will be held on 3rd, 4th and sth November next, and the prize schedules now to hand indicate the fact that it is to be quite up to the standard of its predecessors. The show is being held this year for a most important purpose and that is for the benefit of our sick and wounded soldiers. It is peculiarly fitting that this, the most important of our A. and P. Associations and the nearest approach to a National one we have, should move in this direction and though the sacrifice is a big one the committee realises that there are public duties to perform in which it willingly takes a share. No doubt the general public will acknowledge this by giving generous support either by making entries or donating to the prize fund. From the schedule just to hand we notice that the committee has not interfered with the prize money and wisely so as the cost of preparing exhibits for a show of this magnitude is heavy and exhibitors like to have at least a sporting chance of recouping themselves on their outlay. Great improvements are being effected on the grounds, foremost among which is a grand new cattle pavilion for the housing of all the pure bred beef and dairy cattle divisions. This will be an ira, mense boon to cattle breeders who will now be relieved of all anxiety from bad weather. We have not space to review the schedule in its entirety, but copies can be had from the secretary, Mr W. T. Penny, Box 85, Palmerston N. Our readers will be doing themselves a service as well as assisting in a great cause by doing everything possible to make the show a great success.
