FOXTON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.
A general meeting of the above club was held in the Council Chambers last evening, when there was a fair attendance. The president, Rifleman C. F. Johnstone, being in the chair. The resignation of Rifleman K. Ingram from the committee was accepted, but it was decided that the club has not the power at the present time to grant a ttansfer to another club. Mr J. Stevens wrote accepting the position of patron of the club, and forwarded a donation of two guineas. The Himatangi Rifle Club wrote offering to join the FoxtouClub as they cannot find a suitable range at Himatangi.—lt was decided to allow the Himatangi Club to join with the Foxton club provided they come iu individually and be on the same footing as the members of the Foxton Rifle Club. Rifleman A. Smith was elected to the committee and two new members were sworn in and one proposed for membership. A vote of thanks was passed to the Borough Council fot the use of the Council Chambers. The fixing of a date for the opening of the season was left to the committee and the secretary was deputed to take over the ammunition from the late president.
