PRESENTATION.
Last Friday, at the local State school, Miss McHardie, assistant teacher, who has taken up a position on the staff of the Pahiatua District High School, was farewelled by teachers and pupils. The head teacher, Mr Jackson, speaking on hehalt of the staff, regretted Miss McHardie’s departure. While on the staff ol the local school she had become deservedly popular with teachers and pupils, and her work as a teacher left nothing to be desired. On behalf of the staff, Mr Jackson presented Miss McHardie with a handsome and serviceable clock as a slight token of the esteem in which she is held. The pupils of Miss McHardie’s class presented her with a silver candlestick. Although the little ones gave three very hearty cheers for the future success of their late teacher, it was evidenced that had their wishes been considered, Miss MeHardie would still be a member of the staff. Miss McHardie, in responding, said that she had spent a happy time in Foxton School and regretted leaving her pupils, but they would understand she must accept promotion which offered.
